Low-voltage licensing
Oklahoma
Oklahoma requires Electrical Contractor licensing through the Construction Industries Board (CIB). The licensing tiers include Apprentice, Journeyman, and Contractor. A separate Alarm and Locksmith Industry Committee under CIB regulates burglar / fire alarm and access control work.

Common pitfalls
Mistakes we see installers make when navigating Oklahoma licensing.
- Oklahoma's Alarm Contractor license requires fingerprint-based background checks for the qualifier and any technician. Failed background check disqualifies a hire.
- Texas Master Electrician exam reciprocity applies for the trade portion of Oklahoma's EC exam, but applicants still must sit for the Oklahoma business / law portion.
- Annual renewal with continuing education required for both EC and AC.
