Nebraska

State-level license requiredLast verified May 23, 2026

Nebraska requires Electrical Contractor licensing through the State Electrical Division. Individual electrician licenses (Apprentice, Journeyman, Class A and Class B Master) are separate from the Contractor registration. Low-voltage scope falls under the same classification.

Common pitfalls

Mistakes we see installers make when navigating Nebraska licensing.

  • Nebraska requires the individual Master license AND the Electrical Contractor business registration separately.
  • Annual renewal; missing the cycle requires re-application rather than reinstatement.
  • Omaha and Lincoln each have local permit and inspection requirements layered on state licensing.
