NICET Inspection, Testing & Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems
Issued by NICET (under NSPE)
Separate from the Fire Alarm Systems track, NICET's ITM credential focuses on the inspection, testing, and maintenance procedures defined in NFPA 72. Technicians performing annual fire alarm inspections at commercial buildings often need ITM certification to satisfy AHJ requirements (especially in states that explicitly require certified inspectors).
Who needs this
Fire alarm technicians whose primary work is annual inspections, not install. Increasingly required by AHJs in commercial occupancies.
Renewal
3-year recertification cycle.
