The CTS is the entry-level AVIXA credential and demonstrates broad AV competency: signal flow, system design fundamentals, project management, and AV business practices. Bid specs frequently require a CTS-credentialed person on the project team. The CTS is the prerequisite for both the CTS-I (installer specialty) and CTS-D (designer specialty) advanced credentials.

Anyone working in commercial AV - project managers, engineers, installers, sales engineers. CTS is the entry-level credibility marker; the I or D extensions specialize from there.

Computer-based exam at Pearson VUE.
Renewal
3-year renewal cycle via RU (Renewal Unit) credits.
