International Association of Electrical Inspectors

ElectricalLast verified May 23, 2026

IAEI is a non-profit organization serving electrical inspectors, contractors, manufacturers, and authority-having-jurisdictions (AHJs). The association publishes IAEI News magazine, runs the IAEI Annual Section Meetings (which double as continuing-education for inspectors), and is heavily involved in the NEC code-making process. When you hit an AHJ disagreement on a code interpretation, IAEI's bulletins and section meetings are where the dispute often gets settled.

Why it matters

IAEI is the bridge between code and field. If you regularly fight AHJ interpretations or sit on the contractor side of inspector disputes, the association's CEUs and section meetings are where you stay current.
